
Tondano – Gorontalo. The Chemistry Department of Universitas Negeri Manado (UNIMA) and the Chemistry Department of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG) have officially strengthened their academic collaboration through a thesis examiner exchange program. This initiative is designed to enhance the quality of student examinations, uphold academic standards, and expand inter-university cooperation in Eastern Indonesia.
On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Computational Laboratory of the Chemistry Department, UNG, a thesis defense was held for student Ahmad Chandra Lakasan (NIM 442422021), entitled “In silico Study of Antidiabetic Potential of Alkaloid Compounds from Acalypha indica Roots: Molecular Docking Against α-Glucosidase Enzyme and ADMET Prediction.”
The examination committee included lecturers from both UNG and UNIMA, among them Dr. Anderson Arnold Aloanis, S.Si., M.Si from UNIMA, who served as an external examiner. The presence of external examiners is expected to provide objective perspectives, enrich academic feedback, and improve the overall quality of student research.
Head of the Bachelor of Chemistry Program UNG, Dr. Suleman Duengo, S.Pd., M.Si, emphasized that this collaboration is a strategic step toward achieving excellence in accreditation and strengthening academic culture. Meanwhile, UNIMA highlighted that the examiner exchange program reflects a shared commitment to building transparent, fair, and quality-oriented academic practices.
Beyond examiner exchange, both departments are also exploring further collaborations, including joint seminars, co-authored publications, and curriculum development based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) integrated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through this partnership, the Chemistry Departments of UNIMA and UNG aspire to become pioneers in fostering an academic ecosystem that is open, innovative, and competitive at both national and international levels.
