Tondano, 28 July 2026 — Universitas Negeri Manado (UNIMA) officially welcomed the delegation of the Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC) at the Rector’s Meeting Room on 28 July 2026. The reception was led by the Acting Rector of UNIMA, who also serves as the Dean of FMIPAK, Prof. Dr. Yermia Mokosuli, M.Si, representing the Rector of UNIMA.
The LUPIC delegation was headed by Prof. Won Koo Lee, LUPIC Coordinator from Sogang University, South Korea. The visiting team also included representatives from several Indonesian partner universities: Universitas Negeri Semarang, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, Universitas Maritim Raja Ali, Universitas Negeri Lampung, Universitas Mataram, and Universitas Nusa Cendana.
In his remarks, Prof. Mokosuli expressed appreciation for the continued collaboration between UNIMA and LUPIC, emphasizing the importance of international partnerships in strengthening academic excellence, research capacity, and innovation within UNIMA. He highlighted that this collaboration aligns with UNIMA’s commitment to expanding global academic networks and enhancing the quality of science education in Eastern Indonesia.
The LUPIC-sponsored activities at UNIMA will take place from 28–30 July 2026, featuring a series of academic and community engagement programs:
- Inauguration of the Fablab of the Department of Chemistry, a new facility designed to support innovation, digital fabrication, and technology-based learning.
- International Workshop for chemistry students, lecturers, and chemistry teachers across North Sulawesi, featuring speakers from partner universities in Indonesia and South Korea.
- Community Service Program at SMPN 12 Manado, focusing on EthnoSTEAM-based learning and microscale chemistry experiments for teachers and students.
The reception marked the beginning of a meaningful three-day collaboration aimed at strengthening academic capacity, fostering innovation, and expanding UNIMA’s international engagement. The activities are expected to contribute significantly to the development of chemistry education and community empowerment in North Sulawesi.
