Minahasa, February 25, 2026 , The Department of Chemistry officially signed an Implementation of Agreement (IoA) with Badan Pusat Statistik Kabupaten Minahasa on Wednesday (02/25/2026). The signing ceremony was followed by a public lecture entitled “The Utilization of Statistical Data in the Era of Technological Disruption”, delivered by the Head of Badan Pusat Statistik Provinsi Sulawesi Utara.

The IoA marks a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between the Department of Chemistry and BPS, particularly in the areas of statistical data utilization and management to support research, academic development, and human resource enhancement.

In his lecture, the speaker emphasized that in today’s era of technological disruption, statistical data plays a strategic role in supporting evidence-based research, policymaking, and innovation across various fields, including chemistry and chemistry education. Students were encouraged not only to master theoretical concepts but also to develop the ability to process, analyze, and critically interpret data in response to rapid technological advancements.

The event was attended by all undergraduate (S1), master’s (S2), and doctoral (S3) students of Chemistry, as well as undergraduate students of Chemistry Education. Participants showed great enthusiasm, particularly during the interactive discussion session, which explored the integration of statistical data in chemical research, environmental analysis, industrial development, and data-driven regional planning.

Through this activity, the Department of Chemistry reaffirmed its commitment to expanding strategic partnerships with government institutions to foster a strong research culture and enhance data literacy among academics in facing the challenges of technological disruption.
