
Tondano, May 20, 2026 — The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Manado (UNIMA), welcomed a group of students from SMA Prisma Manado for an educational laboratory visit aimed at strengthening students’ scientific literacy and interest in chemistry.
During the visit, the students participated in a series of hands-on chemistry practicum activities, guided directly by lecturers and laboratory staff. They were introduced to fundamental laboratory techniques, proper use of equipment, and essential safety procedures. Through simple experimental demonstrations, students gained firsthand experience in observing chemical reactions and understanding the importance of accuracy and discipline in laboratory work.
In addition to the practicum session, the students were given a tour of the laboratory facilities and infrastructure available in the Department of Chemistry. This included instructional laboratories, research laboratories, and instrument rooms equipped with modern analytical tools used in academic and research activities. The students showed great enthusiasm as they explored the learning environment and observed how chemistry is applied in higher education settings.
This visit reflects the Department of Chemistry’s commitment to supporting science education in North Sulawesi by opening opportunities for schools to engage in laboratory-based learning. The department hopes that such activities will inspire students to pursue further studies in chemistry and contribute to the development of future scientists and educators.
