The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Manado (UNIMA), held an international-scale Community Service Program (PkM) in collaboration with Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) and Sogang University, South Korea.
The activity, themed “Strengthening Teacher Competence through FabLab, Micro-Kit, TPACK, and Chemoentrepreneurship,” took place on October 29, 2025, at the UNIMA Training Center.
This program focused on enhancing the competence of chemistry teachers in the digital era through innovative teaching approaches, including the application of FabLab (Fabrication Laboratory)-based learning, the development of micro-kits for chemistry experiments, the integration of TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) into teaching practice, and the strengthening of chemoentrepreneurship as an approach that integrates chemistry and entrepreneurship.
Head of the Department of Chemistry FMIPA UNIMA, Dr. Anderson Aloanis, M.Si, stated that this program represents a strategic step in reinforcing international collaboration and expanding the impact of community service in the field of chemistry education.
“This collaboration brings together academics from different countries to jointly develop innovative and applicable chemistry learning models for teachers and pre-service teachers in Indonesia,” he said.
A representative from Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) added that this program serves as a concrete example of inter-university cooperation in improving the quality of science education at the secondary school level.
The event featured interactive activities, including workshops on developing micro-kit teaching aids, TPACK-based technology training, and chemoentrepreneurship sessions highlighting the importance of eco-friendly chemical product innovation based on local resources.
All participants, consisting of chemistry teachers and pre-service educators, showed great enthusiasm and active engagement throughout the training and discussions.
Through this initiative, the Department of Chemistry, FMIPAK UNIMA reaffirmed its commitment to becoming a pioneer in developing innovative chemistry education that is adaptive to technological advancement and provides real contributions to both society and the education sector.
